The CAN BE incubator program's main goal is to help entrepreneurs grow new ventures in the greater Hazleton area.

What defines a business incubator?

Incubators nurture young firms, helping them to survive and grow during the start-up period when they are most vulnerable. Incubator programs provide hands-on management assistance, access to financing and orchestrated exposure to critical business or technical support services. These programs also offer entrepreneurial firms flexible lease space, shared office services and access to office equipment.

Participation in the Program

If you are launching a new business, expanding a small home-based business, or creating a spin-off

venture from an existing business, CAN BE can help. The following list outlines points of consideration in the selection process for acceptance into the CAN BE program:

• The entrepreneur should have a well-organized business idea or plan, and management that can turn the idea into a viable business with long-term growth potential;

• Funding, or a potential for funding, should either be in place or be readily available;

• A business whose financial plan proves it is capable of meeting its financial obligations for the first two or three years of operation;

• A new business that either has the potential for becoming a company that will add significant job opportunities in the community or a smaller service organization that brings a valuable service to industry in the Hazleton area;

• A business that has identified an existing market with substantial growth potential; and

• A business that can reasonably be expected to locate in the Hazleton area after graduation from the program.
